Developing drugs against muscle wasting

developing-drugs-against-muscle-wasting

Our project seeks to develop new drugs that can prevent or even reverse this muscle wasting by targeting the molecular pathways that govern muscle growth, repair, and metabolism. Although scientists understand some of the basic biology, we still lack effective therapies that work safely across diverse causes of atrophy, and we don’t fully know why some individuals lose muscle much faster than others. By filling these knowledge gaps and building better treatments, we aim to protect quality of life for millions and address a growing public health challenge as populations age and more patients face prolonged immobility.
